How to Eat Papaya in 4 Simple Ways | Herbal Goodness

Papaya is a fruit packed with vital nutrients, and making it a staple in your home will see you derive its numerous nutritional and health benefits.

Like every other food, though, you can only enjoy it for so long before it gets blah.

Good thing is, you don’t have to eat papaya in fruit form through and through.

The luscious orange tropical fruit is very versatile and can be enjoyed in a whole bunch of wonderful ways.

Below, we share four simple ways on how to eat papaya so it doesn’t have to be a chore.

  1. How to Eat Papaya: Papaya Smoothie recipes

One of our favorite ways to eat papaya, smoothies provide a nice avenue to widen the scope as there are no restrictions on what you can include in them.

Mango, banana, avocado, berries, carrots, Greek yogurt – they all go well with papaya so it depends on what strikes your fancy at any one time.

One of our favorite papaya smoothie recipes involves combining one small papaya with a banana, yogurt, milk, vanilla – and depending on the weather, ice cubes.

Just combine these ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.

  1. How to Eat Papaya: Papaya Boats

Papaya boats are a refreshing and satisfying way to introduce some excitement into your breakfasts (or lunch).

Papaya boats are simply a ripe papaya fruit cut in the middle length-wise, scooped out a tad, and then loaded up with delicious toppings.

Here’s a simple formula to prep one in a jiffy.

Take ripe papaya that is soft to the touch and slice it in half, lengthwise. Spoon out the seeds then dig out some of the flesh as to form a small well.

Stuff it with yogurt (fat-free if you like) and throw in some walnuts, raisins and chopped strawberries. If you need it sweeter you can add some organic maple syrup (or honey).

Ta-dah.

  1. How to Eat Papaya: Papaya Popsicles

Papaya popsicles are best enjoyed on a hot summer day.

And the nice thing about them is unlike your regular popsicles from the store, the homemade papaya edition cools you off while delivering a slew of nutritional benefits associated with papaya – digestive enzymes, countless number of vitamins, natural sugar content, you name it.

Here is a simple recipe to prepare papaya popsicles.

What you need: 2 cups of diced papaya; 1/3 cup water; ¼ cup fresh lime juice; ¼ cup agave syrup; some popsicle molds and sticks (yields about 5).

Combine your ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth, then take the papaya blend and pour it into popsicle molds.

Stick a popsicle stick into each mold then freeze for approximately 6-8 hours.

When serving, pour hot water briefly on the outside of the mold to free the popsicles from the mold.

Enjoy.

  1. How to Eat Papaya: Green Papaya Salad

As we mentioned earlier, there are just no limits to how you can enjoy your papayas. This happens to be one of the most versatile fruits available.

Papaya makes for a great dish when cooked, whether it’s using it to bake, preparing a papaya salsa with say, rice, chicken and fish, grilling it, dipping slices as chips – you know, whatever.

It rarely disappoints.

Another of our favorites we think you will love is a green papaya salad.

This one brings together sweet papaya, tomatoes, garlic, lime, chili peppers, and fish sauce into what constitutes a traditional Thai dish.

It’s a refreshing introduction to a meal and best served cold.

Now, get yourself some papayas and have some fun!
